Deleting unneeded upgrade files

I just upgraded from 8.04 up to 9,04 but have only 1.5GB left after having about 6GB before the upgrade. Where are these upgrade files saved?

install bleachbit to remove the outdated/unneeded packages

There is also a much easier and safer way of removing unneeded package files.

Administration > Synaptic Package Manager > Preferences > Files > Delete Cached Package Files
