As a user post on page 27, you have to repeat step 3. and 4. However, this time you have to copy the file to /lib/modules/2.6.35-25-generic/kernel/sound/pci/hda
Every time the kernel is updated, you have to copy the file to the newest folder, this time it is .../2.6.35-25-generic/..., next time it could be .../2.6.35-26-generic/... and so on.

    Re: Asus K52 / Asus A52

Another problem has occurred with the latest kernel update 2.6.35-25..
When my headphones are plugged in, speakers don't mute. I tried repeating the procedure for Ubuntu 10.10 x64 in the first post but it doesn't help anymore.

Have you noticed the same problem since the last update ? I hope it doesn't concern just me...

Yeah, I can confirm this. I'll try to recompile the module for this kernel version soon.

    Edit:
Patch for kernel 2.6.35-25 is attached (x86_64 only!!!)
@jsevi83: Please update the first post

    Enjoy!!!

Thanks a lot. This is very helpful
Next time (If it doesn't work again) I may try to recompile it on my own

If you have installed Ubuntu 10.10 x64, try what I posted several posts above:

Great, it works, and now I don't need any patch to mute internal speakers on headphone connect! Thanks!

    Hi!
I've got an Asus X52F, seems to be a close relative -I'm still not sure though it's being sold anywhere but germany...
    http://www.computeruniverse.net/prod...3d-freedos.asp
I'm having the same problems as described in the first post. I guessed it would be ok to post here - correct me, and I'll open another thread.
After using the method described in the first post, every application trying to use the sound card breaks down. Additionally, and oddly, Firefox now crashes when I right click at it, try to open any of the menus or open a bookmark folder from the bookmark bar. Any way to undo what I did with
    Code:
    wget http://www.linuxant.com/alsa-driver/....0_all.deb.zip
    unzip alsa-driver-linuxant_1.0.23.0_all.deb.zip
    gdebi-gtk alsa-driver-linuxant_1.0.23.0_all.deb
or even set things straight and get it to work?

I had gotten intern and extern sound to work at the same time first, opening
    Code:
    sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
    and adding
    Code:
    options snd-hda-intel model=ideapad
    ...

fixing the webcam with the command line provided in the first post worked fine. thanks

    nice!
    so I deleted this line
    Code:
    options snd-hda-intel model=ideapad
    from alsa-base.conf
while having changed nothing about the
    Code:
    gdebi-gtk alsa-driver-linuxant_1.0.23.0_all.deb
    - no more program crashes, sound works, headphones mute internal speaker.
    NICE!
got both microphones to work as well, using

only that he internal one now is incredibly low.
Thanks for all the help given (to so else in the first place, and some time ago), and sorry I panicked and posted when I destroyed the sound first - all the answers were here...
