Awful Splash Screen

Hi! I recently updated to Karmic and one of the first things I noticed is the lack of customization ability of the splash screen.

However, changing the theme replaced the original with a pretty standard one (an squared gray box in the center of the screen).

I've followed other threads related to splash customization, but nothing worked. I just can't get rid of that awful box. Is there someone who has made some reliable change to his/her splash screen, or knows how to turn back to karmic's original?.

If you mean the default login box, I'm afraid you can't I've been looking for the same, everywhere I've found with reasonable content it said it couldn't be done

Yeah! I figured it out some weeks ago.

I really miss the old way of customizing the login window. I hope there's a good reason for this change.
