HI, i installed ubuntu on a USB stick in another machine. In this machine it work ok.
But when i try to boot it at macbook don't work. (i boot from cd and choose to boot in first disk.)
I'm sure this is a long shot, but has anyone tried building and booting a kernel from the 2.6.35 git branch listed in this changelog? There are references to MCP89 in the diff file..
I'm downloading the 2.6.34-git8 patch and will be building a kernel right away
Sadly, it doesn't seem to work.

Looks like this bug is kernel wide. This is not simply an Ubuntu issue. Will update with more information when possible.
How did you get FreeBSD 8.0 to work? I tried booting the 64bit ISO DVD and it didn't work. Any suggestions?
Having the same problem with Macbook 7,1 (2.4 C2D), It uses the same NVIDIA MCP89 SATA chipset. now testing with other kernels... sigh, i want my triple boot!
Sorry, i should clarify: Im currently testing kernels that I have compiled myself. even with no success at least im learning somethingWhy don't you just read this thread instead of wasting your time?
