    Re: Lucid Lynx (10.04)!!!!

I've been with it since the Alpha stage, so I won't vote, since I'm already using it. Actually, I have two installs of it - one an upgrade and the other a fresh install.

I have to say, the difference in performance has just about convinced me to do fresh installs, at least for LTS releases.

My upgraded install boots in 30-35 seconds, which is still a big improvement over 9.10, but my fresh install is hitting 15-18 seconds, and I'm not even using an SSD.

Would you please, if you can add fresh install to the vote option.

    look forward to typing

sudo apt-get update && sudo dist-upgrade at the end of the month knowing I have my self an up to date system running 10.04 Lucid Lynx

    Why wouldn't you?
Least for me there isn't a real reason not to and quite a few reason to!

I dual boot, both the Lucid that's from update and the Lucid from a recent daily build install.

They are different. There's differences in splash and the desktop and the applets, and on my intel videographics pc's the frequency of X crashes.

    Good luck,

    Jerry

Been there... done that... it's running great since the last alpha and I've been completely weaned from Karma since beta 1 came out. Not a hitch!

Been using it since beta 1, updating every day.

Have the one I am on now pretty screwed up. (Software center doesn't work) Using it for testing and only implementing stable mods/adds etc on my main tower. It has been running quite well. Very impressed. In fact I hardly ever boot to Windows 7 now.

Will keep this until the the RC then do a fresh install.

    Re: Lucid Lynx (10.04)!!!!

Everything about this OS is awesome.

it brought me back to linux.

the new Kubuntu is a trainwreck compared to the new u.

    so fun so awesome,

    to be specific.

the fonts are beautiful, it recognizes my ATI 4850 perfectly
and all effects are go. I just wish that 3D windows and deformations came included, I hate having to install stuff like that via command line.

ubuntu has amazing repos, only crash Ive really had was with Secret Maryo Chronicles lolll

Lack of poulsbo (GMA500) support means I am effectively limited to Karmic on my netbook (Acer Aspire 751h) . However, I have a mini-tower box running Mythbuntu 10.04 Beta 2 at the moment and that is pretty stable, so will almost certainly use this once it is formally released.
