Re: Linux Command Line Learning Resources

Hello all - I have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installed on a Dell Latitude D610 which was installed on top of Windows XP. It is my intentions to learn and be as knowledgeable about Linux/Ubuntu. I initially had difficulty getting the wireless to work, but was able to upgrade from Ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10 and then finally to 12.04. I still had to search the web so that I could get the wireless to work. I found a site, ran the sudo commands. I able to get the wireless working, even though it took me about a week of on and off playing with Ubuntu to get it to work. I am looking to learn so much more about using Linux/Ubuntu and look forward to fellow Linux users that provide simple plain English support. Sorry if this is in the wrong thread.

I believe your post will feel more at home here.

Welcome. If you want to speed things up on the 610 you could consider Xubuntu.

    Welcome all newcomers!

Enjoy the forum, the OS and the learning curve, not necessarily in that order!

Re: Welcome to the Forums - Introduce yourself here

Hey guys and gals, relatively new to Ubuntu. I created a dual boot with Windows 7 about 6 months ago, but I never really used Ubuntu due to some bugs and a lack of understanding. I have since un/reinstalled Ubuntu back on my machine, as well as having installed Xubuntu on an old netbook I plan on giving to my grandmother, so I'm back on track to learn something about this whole linux thing.
