As for Steam, it runs perfectly fine with Wine and also Valve has a native linux Steam client in the works.

Hello, my name is Steve and i am introducing myself to this forum. I am recently retired and now have lots of time to play with my computers. I am trying to migrate away from ******* entirely. I have an ancient Dell Dimension 8200 that I have upgraded the ram to 2GB and added a 2nd HD, leaving XP on the 1st HD.
I started withe Linux Mint, but then switched to PCLinuxOS. I also have OpenSuse, Mageia2, and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on the 2nd HD.

I live in Florida and am married with one daughter.

This looks like a very active forum and I hope to learn a lot here.
