Welcome all newcomers.
Welcome, welcome, one and all.
No need to feel intimidated. Whether your problem is big OR small.....and whether you're a complete noob or an experienced 'veteran'; the Ubuntu Forums are the very friendliest of places to seek advice.
Enjoy.

Good morning, afternoon, evening or whatever timezone/frame you're associating yourself with when you read this. I'm not new to dabbling in linux BUT I'm far from "Skilled" with ubuntu/linux. I recently came into possession of some old HP servers and have thus completed the hardware side of my homelab. Now comes the tweaking, programming, cursing and many other -ing words that comes with setting up a homelab. I'm going to be scanning the forums for my questions and hopefully I can find an up to date post... I do apologize ahead of time, I might totally pass it... and for that, I'm sorry if I ask a question easily solved. I currently work general IT, imaging devices and installing windows software, so I have no hands on experience with managing a network or server so this is going to be my first adventure into the world of network management.
Thank you very much for reading this and I look forward to maybe one day contributing.

Hello everyone! I'm Alan, I'm a MechE student, and I do a little bit of programming on the side. (Python and C++). I recently got a MBP and I am running Ubuntu on it, it's gorgeous! Glad to be here, hopefully this will be a place for me to hang out on a regular basis. Feels good to be amongst fellow techies.
