Made a few posts already but just ran across this one. Still new though. So hello forums! I have arrived! I'm new to Linux dual booting with windows 7 for now but want to revive a couple old computers I have and install Ubuntu on them. Been a great help, so thanks to the site and the folks that have brought me this far. Glad to be here and definitely one of the best forum experiences for me.
Hi ddubbz1979,
On behalf of all the Forums Members I extend to you a big welcome! There are hundreds of dual booters here -
In a short time you have created quite a few posts - good for you.
As you have mentioned, you will find that we are a very friendly bunch here - there are many helpers willing to help!
It won't be long and you will be a seasoned user.
Cheers and good luck -

Hi hg-knight,
Wishing you a welcome may seem a little odd as you have been around for some time, but hey welcome anyway!
I can recall reading many of your posts as goldshirt9 (good Avatar too!) - I am curious as to why you changed your user name?
You are a seasoned ubuntu user with your set-up and no doubt now very experienced.
All the best and good luck -

My New Blog
I am a retired mainframe programmer now doing web development as a hobby. That means I do not generally get paid. I have worked in microcomputers since 1981, I started with CP/M 2.2 and have been through the mill with MS-DOS, PC-DOS, OS/2, various flavors of Windows, Oasis, Coherent, Red Hat, and now Ubuntu.
I would like to be able to go completely Ubuntu but I have a lot to learn about web development on this platform before that can be realized.
Hi jlsmi3th,
May I wish you a big welcome on behalf of all Forums Members - with your many years of experience you will be particularly welcome!
I see that you have been a member for some months, hopefully you may share your ability by getting involved in the various Forums.
Going solo Ubuntu is the aim of many of the members, however this is often not possible to attain due to various circumstances.
Whatever the outcome, may I recommend you join in and remember to have fun!
Cheers and good luck -

I am new to Ubuntu but have known about it for many years. Now that I am retired I am planning to learn and use Ubuntu as much as I can. I was given an old Dell Latitude 610 from work on which I loaded Ubuntu 12.04. I the only operating system loaded. I have been using it for about 10 months and wish I had started using it long ago. My background is in Manufacturing engineering.
Please bear with me as I venture into this community.
Thanks,
Tom
