Re: Welcome to the Forums - Introduce yourself here

Hello World, my name is Rick.
I am 52 years old, and I live in Delaware, USA.

My friend at work talked me into trying Ubuntu 10.10 over 2 years ago and I am glad I listened.
One of the things that captured me was the Ubuntu Code of Conduct.
I had read an article where high school kids had signed the code and I thought, what a wonderful thing for people of any age, especially the young.

I now have 3 computers running Ubuntu... laptop with 12.04, desktop in kitchen with 12.04, and main desktop with 13.04 / Windows XP.
Thanks to the good people that make it all work!

I actually have fun just using a computer with Ubuntu instead of Windows because it gives me the same feeling of freedom like using solar power rather than batteries, or sailing as opposed to power boating.
Harnessing the power of freedom, created by free thinking people whose skills provide the energy.

As far as knowledge, my computer skills are very basic.
I have Ubuntu, not so much in my brain, but in my heart.

    Peace,
    Rick

Re: Welcome to the Forums - Introduce yourself here

One post in each year of my membership is -I guess- not that much. Therefore, I decided to "take the plunch" and finally make a post in this thread to say hello.
(If I continue this way, it'll take me 20 more years until I'm able to edit my profile. )

The next round of virtual beer is on me.

I mixed up my postcount with one from another forum. Anyway, despite the 31 beans I still can't edit my Avatar and my signature - but that's not really important.

The update script runs once/hour, but it looks like you should be able to update your profile. Feel free to PM me if you still have problems.

    Hi bhatta,

A big welcome to you from all in the Forums - we have many members from India so you are certainly not alone!

It seems you are already well and truly converted to Linux - I trust you stay with us for many years.

If you haven't already done so, have a good look around and ask any questions whenever you wish.

All the very best wishes to you bhatta,

    Cheers -

Re: Welcome to the Forums - Introduce yourself here

    Hello!

I'm new to Ubuntu and to this forum, but not necessarily to Linux. I've used various Linux distros on and off over the last 12 years or so, and about a month ago decided I had had enough of the Windows Empire. I installed Ubuntu 13.04 on my system, originally ran into problems, wiped, reinstalled, and now here I am. I'm about 2 weeks into my second go-around with Ubuntu, and minus a few minor issues, I'm having a blast! Just thought I'd introduce myself here, as you'll probably see me around these parts again in the future.

    Cheers!
