Re: Welcome to the Forums - Introduce yourself here
Hi all,
I'm new to Linux and Ubuntu. I've been with Windows since 1995 since the DOS days. I created a dual boot PC with Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.12 and Unity.
I'm a retired mainframe computer programmer but I greatly enjoy the new technologies that are happening. Ubuntu is great. I'm especially impressed the very large world of LInux and it's community which includes Ubuntu. I'm very excited with this technology and community and I can see that I'll be growing more into it.
Cheers all.

Hi and a big welcome aboard waltd,
You will fit in here like a hand in a glove,
I see from your bean count that you have already been active in the forums (good for you).
Have a good look around and ask any question as you see fit. I'm sure your journey with Linux will meet to your approval.
Welcome again -

Re: Welcome to the Forums - Introduce yourself here
Hi all! My name is John, I'm a retired sailor living in San Diego with my wife, 3 dogs, and 2 cats. I've played around with Linux for years, starting with RedHat back in the days before the Fedora split. I've even had some experience using a Unix dial-in account way back in the dark ages.
I'm an avid gamer. My current obsession is GuildWars2, and if anyone has any experience running it under Wine or PlayOnLinux, I'd love to hear about it. I've not attempted to install it yet, since I'm starting a new round of on-line classes this week, and I'm easily distracted.
Looking forward to "meeting" new people and becoming part of a community.

Re: Welcome to the Forums - Introduce yourself here
Quick intro: I'm JC and I'm in the process of switching to Ubuntu at home.
Have used various distro's headless at work for a few years so I'm comfortable but no expert on the terminal.
It's a pleasure to be finally moving away from Windoze at home - even though I've got a partition there for running games which don't yet have any support on Linux.
These forums (fora ?) have been of great assistance with setup and configuration & I hope to be able to contribute & give something back.
