    NVIDIA - videos with tearing effect

    Hi
    i've searched around the web and this forum, and all the solutions didn't work
    i enabled vsync and alike options from nvidia-settings...with no result
    mi nvidia card is integrated and is a little old, nforce 610i
    i don't want to buy a new video card for my HTPC...it used to play fine just a week ago
    any help?

    Are you using compiz? If so disable desktop-effects.

    Also use latest 195 series drivers and not the older one in the repos.

    if i have composite enabled on metacity...i have tearing
    if not...no problem
    is there a bug?

    no that just means that your your card is to old to support effects really well

    i suggest download the latest drivers from the nvidia site and reinstalling them

    if it is an old nvidia graphics adapter, you might want to try the old 96 driver instead of the newer ones.

    other than that, just disable compositing while watching videos.

    i don't know whether to call it a bug, or just what the graphics adapter is capable of doing.

    i've gotten used to disabling/enabling compositing.

    i have an icon in my upper panel that points to a custom script to do this. it's still annoying every now and then, but it's a one click solution.

    also, lucid lynx's default driver did a wonderful job at streaming video. not having the actual nvidia driver means no special effects, but at least there's no more tearing.

    when lucyd be launch, i'll test it
    but at least i can watch my movies right...it's a HTPC...imagine can't watch movies correctly...a hell
