Exclamation Need help using PS3 to create thumbdrive boot

My computer will not boot up and I have no boot disc. I believe the hdd may have failed.
I am able to connect to the internet using my Playstation 3 but it will only let me download files directly to a thumbdrive.
Everything I've seen so far needs a computer to extract the files to the thumbdrive which I can't do.
Is there any place that I can download a linux distro directly to my usb drive without any intermediate steps?

None that I am aware of?

Can always buy a Linux magazine, they tend to come with a few live Cd's.

Is the intention to determine the fault, or to attempt to reinstall?

You might be able to use unetbootin to make a LiveUSB with a PS3 (I doubt it). But as far as downloading directly the only thing that comes to mind is Debian LXDE. I think it will download as a working Live environment without the need for an installer program.
