Continuous Sppedtest.net App in Task Tray

There should be an ONGOING CONTINUOUS Speedtest.net App Runs hourly. Disables traffic on all PCs while it runs. Displays results in task tray - like the weather, clock, etc.

My net speed has been the same the couple of times I've tested it, so I don't see the point to test every hour. And if an application shut down all my traffic including my web browsing and Hulu watching, I'd get real stabby real quick.
That said, submit it to Ubuntu Brainstorm or open a sourceforge account and write an app yourself.

This sounds like a terrible idea.
    1. if you closes all the programs every hour, what if you're watching a movie or even worst, writing an important document.
    2. why do you need to close all the programs to run a speed test of network. most programs arnt bw intensive. the apps that sucks alot of bandwith are usually downlaoding/uploading apps. closing all your programs doesnt prevent other people on the network from downloading/streaming while the test is being ran.
    3. again, why do you need continuous monitoring of network speed?
