Hello everyone,

I bought a Seagate 1.5TB external USB hard drive and formatted it to ext4. When I mount it I can access all the files on it and move Gb's of data but if I leave the hard drive mounted for a few minutes with no data movements it stops working. It is still mounted but I can't access any of the files, and it does strange things like saying that folders are empty etc. If I try to umount and re mount the issues persists. The only way to resolve the issues is to remove the power from the hard drive and re mount. I've tried this on multiple laptops with the same issue on all of them. I'm running ubuntu 9.10. Is anyone else having these issues and does anyone have a solution?

I was thinking of just writing a script to write data to the drive then delete it every minute but I was hoping for a better solution

Thanks,

Greg.
