I tried to install the drivers for this card in ubuntu 9.10 https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI I did all the steps from here, and after restart, if I go to hardware drivers, the ati driver is green, saying that it is installed but if I type fglrxinfo in the terminal i get: "X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)

The driver doesn't work...if I scroll a webpage, it goes so slow which tells me the drivers don't work. Also I noticed an tray icon and when clicking it it said"You have one package broken"How can I fix it? I tried also to remove the ati driver from the hardware drivers and it sais"SystemError: installArchives() failed". How can i fix things up?
