    64-bit compatible?

What determines whether or not a CPU/mobo combo will handle Linux 64-bit OS's?

I'm building another desktop, and I'm liking speedy Karmic 64-bit on my HP laptop...

You would need to check if the mobo supports a 64-bit CPU and then you would need to buy the 64-bit CPU
If variety is the spice of life, monotony must therefore be the kiss of death.

I think you have to look hard to find a CPU that's not 64 bit compatible. The only current CPU i can think of is some of the Atom processors used in netbooks.

If the CPU supports 64bit, then the chipset will as well. Its all about the CPU.

use google to find cpu-z if you have windows then you can find out.
If Ubuntu had 31 flavors then we could call it Baskin' Ubuntu.
