KUbuntu Lucid for an old laptop

    Hello!
Before Windows 7 beta came out last year on February I was using linux exclusively for about 4years. Then I switched entirely to Win 7. Since it delivers the best from WinXP and Linux, IMHO.

But on my notebook I would like to try Kubuntu Lucid Beta. It's a Compaq EVO N610c, 14" LCD, 1.8GHz Pentium 4 mobile, 1GB RAM, Ati Radeon mobility 7500.
My main usage for this laptop is programing in Eclipse when I am on college so battery life is very important to me.

    1. So would it be better to use the Kubuntu or Kubuntu netbook distro or even some other distro for best possible battery life.
    2. Since the laptop has Radeon 7500 32MB, would that pose any problems?
    3. Will the battery life be at least as good as it is currently in WinXP?

1.You can use both, but KNR is specific for netbooks.
2.It will be recognize by both distro easily.
3.With a little bit tweaking, the battery life should be OK.

by that, you mean that it will be at least as good as in Win XP, right?
