    LOVE MMORPG released

I believe it just went live today,

    http://www.quelsolaar.com/love/index.html

There hasn't been much hype about the game, but I'm looking forward to trying it.

I'm not sure if it will run on Linux, or even wine, but I believe it uses OpenGL, so I have some hope. I'm downloading the test client now to see if it'll run.

LOVE's feature list(taken right from the official website):

    G A M E P L A Y F E A T U R E S :

    # First Person Action Gameplay.
    # Fully Cooperative.
    # Create a settlement and defend it from 5 different AI Tribes.
    # Use tools tools to recshape the environment and build settlements.
    # Explore the world and find "Tokens" to give your settlement new abillities and items
    # Traverse the terain using tools and jump skills to gain access to new areas.
    # Find knowlage that will reveal the secrets of the world.
    # Use radio frequencies to control equipment and keep in contact with other players.
    # Manufacture Powerups that can be used to give your settlement an advantage.
    # Build force feilds, radar stations, sensors and turrets to protect your settlement.
    # Build powergrids to power your settlement manufacturing and defences.
    # Disrupt and Hack the enemies infrastructure to use it to your advantage.
    # And much much more....
Maybe some of you will check it out.

Watched the gameplay video, the graphics look...cheesy and badly done.

The graphics do look pretty bad, but the gameplay itself seems interesting. I wouldn't call it an MMORPG though. More like MMORTS,or something like that.

Yes. Good concept, but the poorly designed graphics makes it a major turnoff.

However, if the OP finds it works under Wine or as a native linux client, I'd be willing to give it a try.

I like the graphics, because they seem like something different to me. Kind of like a different art style than games usually take. I tried running to .bin file included with the test client and received a syntax error. I managed to get the intro menu to work under Wine, but then the game window closes. I'll probably have to mess with my 3D settings a bit. I just installed Wine yesterday.

    + Engine Features:
    # Built on OpenGL 2.0 (GLSL, FBOs and VBOs)
    # High/ low end mode.
    # Procedural animation.
    # IK with full ground contact.
    # Full day/night cycles.
    # Animated water.
    # Particle systems including fog and smoke.
    # Highly optimized per polygon ray intersection.
    # Wind affecting water, grass and trees.
    # Full shadow casting including volumetric lighting.
    # Multiple independent dynamic light sources.
    # Low latency UDP based network protocol.
    # Custom built Master server infrastructure.
    # Full cloth sim with accurate wind simulation.
    # Entire world is editable and destructible.
    # Realtime WYSIWYG Verse based pipeline and tools
    # Procedurally generated spherical, multi level height fields. Landscape, Building and City generation
I think it uses SDL as well. It had a SDL file in the folder somewhere. I just booted into Windows Vista to test it out. I'll post some screen shots if I can.

EDIT: Performance is at a constant 60FPS with Vsync on. Was running the game in high-end mode (maximum quality) using Vista. The graphics looked pretty new and artsy to me.

    Back to Linux.

Just tried installing some opengl libraries.
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install libglu1-mesa-dev freeglut3-dev mesa-common-dev
    Still no luck.

Might just boot to Vista. I really want to try this one.

Looks intresting, it's good that the game doesn't try to look better then it does and keeps itself simple.

Agreed. For me it's all about the content. I've never seen an online game with features like this.
