Saving data
Hi all,
I have a new external HDD, and I want to save all my data from Windows XP on it, then drop XP and install Kubuntu.
The HDD was pre-formatted as FAT32.
The manual recommends installing the "Turbo USB 2.0 Driver" to speed up data transfer.
Should I install the driver?
Also, will I "see" all my XP data from Kubuntu? Or do I have to format the external HDD under a Linux format?
Appreciate all the help, as always,
Brian

Re: Saving data
Well if they recommend the driver it may be a good idea but also make sure everything that you have coming from xp can be used with your kubuntu. Otherwise it will not all show up! Either that or it just wont be compatible

Re: Saving data
Thanks oleink!
I think things should go ok; I just remembered that I also use a usb stick between both systems and I've never had problems, so this should be the same, I think. Just bigger disk space!
It just got me concerned when the external HDD manual said, "recommended for use with Windows or Mac computers." !! Is this politics, or what???
Thanks again,
Brian
