    Question Derivative porting?

It seems as though (in my mind) that I may have read somewhere that if anyone installed Ubuntu on a computer that already had Linux Mint on it or vice versa, that the new install provides an option to port settings (and files?) from the old system to the newer one. Is this correct?

    Re: Derivative porting?

I've found that this option is given when installing Ubuntu and Linux Mint as a dual boot.

I still don't know, however, if the same option is provided for a dual boot of two Ubuntu releases, or for a dual boot of an Ubuntu upgraded to Linux Mint and a plain Ubuntu. Anyone know?
