ATI driver poor performance & video playback
I've been using my notebook's integrated graphics card all the time. Now that I got myseld a new monitor and a docking station and realised, that I have to use my discrete graphics card (Ati HD 3470). So I changed my bios settings to enable the ATI card, booted up Ubuntu, installed the drivers via the "Hardware Drivers" tool, rebootet und everything looked fine at first, but then i realised there's two issues:
1) when playing back any video (I've tried VLC, Totem and mplayer) the first two players simple show a black screen (while the playback itself seems to work, as I get sound and the progress bar moves properly) while mplayer gives an error message: "Error opening/initializing the selected video_out(-vo) device."
2) Resizing windows is awfully slow. When I open an iconized window it takes about 4 seconds (in which i can only move the mouse cursor but cant do anything else). Same happens when i try to resize a window.
