    Chrome or Chromeium

Whats the real difference? I've been using Chrome since I got Ubuntu but was just wondering? They seem exactly the same. Is one more stable or?

chromium is the open source version of chrome. Chrome is google flagship browser.

the stability reside on which build you choose.
    chromium daily-most unstable
    chromium dev- less unstable
chromium beta-stable to the certain extent
chromium stable channel- as the name implies

    https://launchpad.net/~chromium-daily/+archive/stable paa for chromium

I can say the same thing for chrome, since their naming builds is not that different

There is not much difference, since most of the development goes toward chromium betterwhich also in turn improves chrome. One thing I know is in chrome than is not in chromium is their built in pdf viewer.

    cheesekiller,

I have also experienced high cpu and temp but it has subsided with the new release. Just upgraded it to 10.0.648.205 last night and the cpu and temp are stable as of the moment.

check your processes maybe there is something running aside from chrome that is using your cpu.

    Re: Chrome or Chromeium

there is a very big difference between Chrome and Chromium.
    Chrome is Google.
Chromium is open source and is what you installed if you used ubuntu software center.
Chrome is Chromium modified by google(I am pretty sure).
As for your original question, Chromium is more stable than chrome, as chrome is built from chromium.

I had that problem as well. But after I installed a flash blocker addon, I don't have nearly as many issues. Just a suggestion.
I swear, I learn something new on these forums every day...

How to install anything in Ubuntu

    Re: Chrome or Chromeium

The difference is Chrome is Chromium but with an EULA. I used to use chromium for a little bit, but Flash started breaking on me the moment I opened up the browser so I switched back to Chrome.

    Chromium came from Chrome.

Chromium is Open Source where Chrome Isn't

Chromium is nightly builds, Chrome is stable.

If you contribute to Chromium essentially your contributing to Chrome.

Anyways up to you. I'm sure that the flash is now working in chromium, but I just couldn't handle it then.
