have a look at above images. i want to take screen shots like this. some times i need to right click and take a screen screen shot. But when i click kick off menu and press "print screen" nothing happens. Can anybody tell me how to take screen shots like above???

Install gnome-screenshot or ksnapshot or some such. It should be in the tools menu already actually.

Yep, Shutter is a great screenshot program. When you launch it from the menu, it adds an icon in your upper Gnome panel. From there you just right-click and choose the option you want from a drop-down menu, which includes "Whole screen". You can also choose a specific area by dragging with your mouse, set a timer etc.
You can get it at least from the GetDeb repositories.
