Proxy exceptions in reverse? Only use for certain sites.

System / Preferences / Network Proxy, here I can set "ignored hosts". This is normally useful. What I actually need is something in reverse. I.e. connect direct except for a list of sites.

Is this possible from editing on the command line?

    Why? First some background...
I have a problem with my ISP. Virginmedia in the UK. Certain web sites will just not load properly. If I use their proxy server, webcache.virginmedia.com:8080, then it goes away. But, using this proxy causes me other problems, particularly anything than needs my IP address to work.

This week I wrote a .pac script and I've been using that. But both firefox and chrome have problems with pac scripts and introduce delays, so browsing has been painfully slow. Switching off the pac script and going to proxy gives me the speed back.

    Any thoughts?
