webcam software

Looking for a decent webcam program. Has anyone had any experiences with one they liked? I had some kernal issues and have narrowed it down to either Cheese or Bitdefender. Has anyone had any issues with cheese on Karmic Kola?

can you be a bit more specific? what do you want to do with the webcam software?

for communication, i would say:

pidgin (compatible with google videotalk)
ekiga (voip / sip)
skype (you know)
a-msn (like msn but with linux love)

if cheese broke your webcam
open a terminal type ( gstreamer-properties ) click enter
click video try v4l1 and v4l2 click the bottom test button for each 1
wile you are in gstreamer-properties set the plugin to,x window system (no xv) and re test
cheese says to do that
you do need to restart the computer before you see what the plugin does
but not for the webcam
