    Ubuntu 9.04

I have Ubuntu 9.04 and wine-1.0.1 on my laptop.

I wanna put a newer version of wine on my laptop but when I type "apt-get install wine" it says it's already the latest version.

I do not want to upgrade Ubuntu at this time, just wine.

Then you need to download the latest source from wine's website and install it yourself:

    http://www.winehq.org/

But I doubt it will make much sense, or will it?

P.S.: It has the latest Debs for Ubuntu here:

Kinda makes sense. Is it a tarball?

I have installed those in the past but had trouble installing SynCE (although I got a deb of that).

    Seems to be helpful.

Too bad the Ubuntu repository doesn't have it...
