Re: HOWTO: Mount NTFS volumes with write support

I am mounting two ntfs partitions with no problems.
Here is my fstab for them:

    Code:
      /dev/hda1 /media/Aalto ntfs-3g auto,gid=114,umask=0007,locale=pt_BR.UTF-8 0 0
      /dev/hdb4 /media/Mies ntfs-3g auto,gid=114,umask=0007,locale=pt_BR.UTF-8 0 0

But if you really need to gain access to the partition you can force mounting it (although it is not recommended), or use a windows cd to run chkdsk on it - no need to install, just get to the repair console and run chkdsk on the disk.
Did this work? I'm having the same issue and I know I'd need to reinstall windows as I haven't used windows at all in over 6 months and have replaced the mobo/cpu in the interim

I tried running chkdsk on the ntfs partition I'm trying to mount and I still get the Windows did not shut down properly message.

If anyone solves this please post!!!

    [root@lpawlik ~]#mount /dev/sda7
fusermount: unable to open fuse lock file
    fuse_mount failed.
    Unmounting: Uzytki

Re: HOWTO: Mount NTFS volumes with write support

Please refer to this thread now: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=217009

This guide is outdated since there is a new and better ntfs supporting driver now.

Re: HOWTO: Mount NTFS volumes with write support

This is a bit of a newbie question, but I am a newbie, so, It didn't work and i'm missing drives and I cannot write to the NTFS partition, and other partitions are smaller than they should be. How do I restore the system to how it was using the backup I made?
