Hi,

I've just done a clean install of Ubuntu 9.10 and it took me several tries (first with the CD, which didn't go too well, and then with a Live USB, which worked in the end). Everything seems to be going fine now, except for the fact that if my laptop is plugged in to the AC adaptor, it hangs, and displays the following text (or something very similar to this, I haven't written it down):

Ubuntu 9.10 tty1

[Command line]

I was going to try to start GDM manually from there, but it won't let me type anything (it seems like it's frozen).

However, if my laptop is NOT plugged in, it starts normally and then I can just plug it in after it's launched correctly.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520.

Thank you in advance!
