    Question Firewire to STB problems in 9.10

    Hey folks,
    A bit of a noob here. I'm having some problems with my attempts to connect via firewire to a Comcast Motorola 6200 STB with Mythbuntu 9.10. When I started to try to set it up, I got no GUID listed, so I went to the forums to find ways to troubleshoot.

    I checked with plugreport and got no response at all.
    Next I tried sudo modprobe raw1394 and got this back
    Code:

    After that, though, I tried plugreport and got
    Code:
    Host Adapter 0
    ==============
    There are two ports on my STB and two on my system. I have tried all combinations of both, with no change in plugreport. I have a SYBA 1394 card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815124034) which should work; comments at Newegg suggest it woks fine with linux. I have checked the diagnostics on the box and they show the Firewire port as on and the channel I am tuned to has no 5C protection.

    Also, just in case it matters, I enabled the weekly autobuilds for 0.22 and then upgraded the nvidia drivers to 195 using javenyard's repositories and upgraded and patched ALSA per http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title...40&redirect=no. All of that was to get my GT220 working to pass the audio via HDMI, which it is doing.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Re: Firewire to STB problems in 9.10

    Ha, well forget the question, it was a hardware problem. Picked up a new PCI Firewire card and it worked just fine. VIA chipset screws me again. I am really starting to hate those guys.
