Reverting to Grub 'legacy' - how?

OK, finally got fed up of being unable to use virtual consoles due to floating 'input not supported' messages; tried to fix, unable to do so, dug a bit deeper, realised that no matter how much I'm procrastinating I don't have the time for this, and so I'm going back to grub 1.

    Only, I don't know how :-p.

Is it just a simple case of apt-get remove / install, or do I need to be more careful?

    I really don't think this is grub-legacy (grub1) related - morely hardware/driver related.

But sure, if you wanna use grub-legacy, here's how to: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Gr...ing%20GRUB%202
