    Need more than Spell check!

    Hello people!

My main issue about using more time linux (ubuntu) is : "I can't find a semantic corrector like M$ office"

I've got to write many things, spell checker isn't enough to me.
Is there any software to do solve this?

You can change the settings of spell check. That may work.

He means he wants a grammar checker in addition to spell checking.

Like 'use the active voice' and 'double comma use'?

    Hi,

Abiword has spell and grammar checkers and could be worth a try.

    My regards

The grammar checkers I've used in the past have been pretty near useless. Either there's some conflict with what I was taught at school, there's an assumption of a different idiom to that with which I'm accustomed, or they come up with a suggestion that would baffle the socks off the people who could gain the most benefit from them.

The best grammar checker I know of, or at least the one with the greatest potential, is the person sitting at the keyboard. Armed with a little bit of knowledge, such as the difference between words which sound alike (e.g. to/two/too, your/you're, there/their/they're), why it's plain dumb to say some things certain ways, ("I didn't do nothing, officer") and some basic punctuation skills you will do well.

Disclaimer (just in case it gets interpreted the wrong way):This post is an observation, not an evaluation of the OP's style.

    I agree and disagree
Sometimes when you've got to write technical paper, have something to check basic grammar things helps a lot

I'll try and check if it checks more than one language
