Belkin N wireless USB adapter. Can see neighbours wireless but not my home network

The stick is OK, and all the other networks next door appear, however my local network is absent. The network shows up and works on my laptop running xp and windows 7 via their internal adapters.

It also worked fine in the desktop 30 mins before I loaded Ubuntu 9.1 on top

Stick is Belkin N Wireless Adapter bundled with Belkin N Wireless router Z528 ref no.

So how can I get this adapter to pick up my home network?

Thanks for any help / advice.

Finally got it to work simply by adding a network. Sorry for being so slow. However , althought it says connected, the bar strength , network name and an icon of a monitor are greyed out and there is no connection to the internet. Big newbie here, any ideas on where I am going wrong ? Many thanks
