    taskbar/panel, missing controls

I'm a newb with an interesting/FRUSTRATING problem. The volume control and control to connect to the internet on the right side of the top task bar were removed via the option "remove from panel" when you right click on it. For the life of me I cannot get them back! I tried the "add to panel" option, but in the list that pops up there is not any volume control or connect to internet options. The closest I came to solving the problem was to log in as a guest user - then the volume control was back (just for that guest user), though NOT the connect to internet control.

What can I do? As things are, I cannot connect to the internet - I am using a different computer to do so.

    I think you in advance.

    Sincerely,

    Francis

The panel applet you are looking for is called "Notification Area".
