Why does Ubuntu (910 Karmic) come up in character mode when it boots?
How do I stop that?
I usually reboot 3 or four times to get it back into GUI mode, but that not fun.

You obviously have something wrong with your installation, but with so little information it is pretty hard to tell. HAve you tried typing:
at the prompt to get to your desktop? Have you got gdm installed?Code:startx
