Serval Professional and firewire audio interfaces

I'm looking to buy a linux compatible laptop for audio production work using a firewire audio interface. Does anyone have an experience using the Serval Pro with a firewire audio interface (I'm using presonus firebox)? I'm concerned about the firewire chipset, rioch I think, as I've heard they can cause problems

    I user the Audiofire 12.

I have never been able to get it to work with a Ricoh chipset firewire interface in my laptop.

The TI chipset works fine in all the desktop machines I've tried.

I don't have access to a laptop with TI chipset.
