    Banshee 1.5.3 High CPU Use

    Hello all.

Recently Banshee 1.5.3 was included in my updates.

When the Banshee GUI is open, it uses about 15-20% CPU
with it closed and just the toolbar icon, CPU is normal, about 0-1% usually.

    Why is this?

(Maybe because it consumes a lot of resources; internet, radio....)?. There isn't another app that does the same?(more lightweight)

    This is playing a 3MB MP3.

1.5.1 which i had earlier run fine. Why should Banshee consume 15-20% CPU when minimised, or at all infact?

    It never used to.

Banshee has always been a bit of a hog. It could be the file you are playing though. Does it happen on other ones?

Banshee's always been too buggy for me personally so I stick to Rythmbox, though limited, seems the most stable and usable.

Try some other players on the same file, see if they do it too.

You may try disabling some extensions like Internet Radio, Podcast Support etc.

This worked for me. My CPU usage was about 100%, but after I disabled those extensions it fell down to ~3-4%, however the pulse-audio CPU usage is at ~7%.
