Question PPTP works over Wifi but not USB Modem

I am running 64-bit 9.10 on a Acer Aspire 1810T. I can connect to the internet via both wifi and the Novatel U998 modem. I have a PPTP VPN that works correctly via wifi, but does not work via the modem.

The obvious problem would be that the ISP is doing something... but I'm dual booting Windows 7, and the ISP's Windows based software is able to connect to the VPN without issue.

I have no idea where to look on this one, and welcome any suggestions you may have. I'm running VMWare player to be able to access my required Windows apps, so I'm almost in a position to dump MS if I can get this VPN issue resolved.

    My ISP is Bell Canada.

Re: PPTP works over Wifi but not USB Modem

I just discovered that there doesn't appear to be any DNS while in Ubuntu and using the modem. Odd. I tried putting in my own DNS info, but no luck.

I might try to see if I can run it backwards - run it in my Windows XP VM, and somehow share it back to Ubuntu....
