I need a USB recording and MIDI interface

The M-Audio Audiophile USB fits what I need -- two channels and MIDI -- but is no longer manufactured. In case I don't happen upon one second-hand, what device would you recommend I get?

    Have you checked this:
    http://www.terratec.net/en/products/...n_en_3246.html
    Terratec has good sound cards.
I have this (no midi in it)
    http://www.terratec.net/en/products/..._USB_9842.html
It works out of the box in ubuntu.

Hello darsu, I'd recommend the Edirol UA-25EX and I would also recommend staying away from Creative/Terratec products.

Is there something I should know about them?

It's a personal opinion. I've come across a lot of issues on different fora regarding Creative and Terratec cards. That's also because a lot of people use these cards too of course. Besides, Creative isn't very communicative when it comes to Linux/FLOSS: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?pag...item&px=NzE2Ng

Thanks for the replies. That Terratec looks great on paper but, alas, the ALSA matrix says 'unsupported' and search results are unpromising to say the least. The Lexicon seems a bit flimsy compared to the metal-cased Edirol. If someone thinks there's something more I should be looking at, speak now or forever remain silent.

For one, a plastic housing that is dropped will absorb impact more than metal, metal will transfer more shockwave damage to internal connections.
Both of these will likely work, but try to buy from a place that will give you a return policy, even if a small restocking fee is included. An
in depth google search is always a good investment!
