    Website Builder

I need a program that lets me build somewhat complex sites. The site I want to build has vanity URLs but is simple apart from that. I'd need abc.myurl.com/def and some with just abc.myurl.com. I know some basic HTML if need be. I found SeaMonkey and Kompozer but I don't see how to do the vanity urls. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also if this is in the wrong place, or I could get more help by posting it elsewhere, let me know.

(Insert your favourite text editor here )

Expand your knowledge of HTML, Learn to use CSS and a CMS like Joomla or Wordpress. Visual HTML editors produce awful HTML and static websites are a complete nightmare to maintain at the best of times anyway, bad code just makes it harder.

You will need to buy a domain name and hosting.

I figured I'd get that, the site would pretty much be static though. Do you know what the official term for vanity url's is though? Like what chapter teaches the abc.mysite.com/def? "Learn HTML" is a bit broader than I need. I have no problem hand-coding, I just thought of a "builder" as a template. Basically the only thing I don't know how to hard-code would be the abc.mysite.com/def

    Re: Website Builder

There usually called ``pretty URLs'' ``or SEO URLs''

URL's are managed by the web server and normally just map directly to the directory structure in the web root. If you are using static HTML, you don't need to do anything, If you are using a CMS, you need to enable SEO urls in the CMS. If you are writing your own CMS (not recommended), learn to use mod_rewrite.

I recommend Joolma if you want an easy to use site, has lots of modules ect that can be adapted or just basic outlines what make upp a good simple site and you can build stuff yourself if you want to.

    Hello,

As an alternative CMS I would suggest Drupal.
