Wireless card not picking up signal (Realtek RTL8187)

Ok, this isnt happening on ubuntu but I think this is more or less a kernel problem that could happen with any flavor. After a new install off of a live cd my wireless card is not picking up any signals...i was able to use wireless while using the live cd but now after it has been isntalled to the hard drive it is not working. even tried in terminal to manually look (iwlist wlan0 scan) but it isnt picking up the signal... any suggestions?

I'm also experiencing issues with a RealTek RTL8187

Its not being recongised by the system until I connect a NetGear USB WiFi card, which has RTL8187L Chipset drivers... Its rather confusing.

I think they maybe a universal problem with the RTL8187.
The WiFi Supported Card list says there may be some problems.

yea, mine is an internal card that uses that driver...not sure why there is a problem
