What window manager should I try?

There are so many. I've tried Gnome, KDE, and Openbox.
I would love to try Awesome but I'm not quite sure how to work it and can't find very good documentation. I don't want my window manager to be all squarey and ugly grey. I want it to be customizable, yet speedy.
    NOT *box.

    Thank you.

icewm is super light and fast. the themes can make it look pretty good too.

    WindowMaker is pretty minimalist.

pekwm - it's not disimilar to a box and has some very nice themes.

qlwm - a qt based wm. it's pretty zippy and configuring it is odd enough to entertain.
    thank you, dan henderson.

    Plus one for pekwm.
I personally *like* my desktop to be gray and square. Wmii is awesome for that
I am currently unable to come up with a witty statement to put in my signature. Please check back later.

Yes. I want to try it, but no where explains how to use it. So I don't even know how to open or exit and application.
