    GMA 950 sluggish 9.10 (Asus Seashell 1005HA)

    Hi everyone,

I just made the switch over to UBR from XP and am loving it. The only issue I am having is my video is a little sluggish (when streaming, playing supertux, etc.) compared to when the netbook ran XP. It isn't terrible, but the performance is not as up to par as before. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

    Thank you in advance,
    -Keith

The first thing is to check to see if there are any proprietary drivers needing to be installed/updated. eeebuntu has better drivers support for asus computers than does UNR.(I've solved many driver problems by mentioning this already)

Once again being new to this, what would the course of the action I would need to take to check for drivers?

Also could it be a opengl issue why games are laggy?

In regular ubuntu this would be under: system/ administration/ hardware drivers. Updates are: system/administration/ update manager

I don't think there should be any proprietary drivers for GMA950. As far as I know, Intel provides an open source driver, however, it's a well known fact that the Linux driver is not on par with its Windows brother. From what you describe, everything works well, but heavier graphical tasks are slightly sluggish, compared to Windows, which is to be expected.
