How is it "not working"? Kmenuedit works fine here, though I'm not on NBR. Which menu are you using?

sorry about the lack of info there. on the main desktop page there is a "kmenu" that is much like the gnome version of NBR. when I edit the menu using kmenuedit, nothing changes in that menu. I have a few apps that I need to install manually and have regular links to them (aptana studio, netbeans, skype, etc) but I can't add or delete anything to the menu.
