"Minimal BASH-Like line editing is supported..." message on start up

My Ubuntu 9.10 is getting this message while trying to boot:

"[ Minimal BASH-Like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists the possible completions of a device/filename. ]"

and Ubuntu wont load. I don't know what that means.. or how to fix it...

I've seen this error message before... I think it had something to do with my kernel when I f*cked it up. Have you touched your kernel (deleted/updated/moved) lately?

Here's an excellent site for understanding and troubleshooting grub problems from Herman that will help you solve your problem:

Thanks for the quick reply. It still doesn't work, but now it goes to the Grub command line (without displaying a boot menu).

    Cheers.
