No bootable device after Kubuntu only install

I've done everything I know of. I've followed tutorial after tutorial on this site. Looks very helpful but nothing is working. I'm trying to install only Kubuntu on my mac. I've set up the boot loader to mbr. I created my swap and root ext4 partition. I installed grub on the root. It just comes up no bootable device.

I've loaded refit but all that gives me is it "won't touch the disk" in which I followed another tutorial to fix that. Then it says no gpt partition found. No need to sync. Or something like that. I'm stuck on what to do. I really like kde and really like ubuntu. Help me please guys. I have a 5,2 macbook pro 17" according to your record.
