    2.6.31-18 sound problems w/ nvidia MCP72XE/MCP72P/MCP78U/MCP78S

    Since i upgraded my kernel to 2.6.31-18 i have been experiencing problems with my sound. The laptop speakers no longer shut off when plugging in headphones. My sound control applet no longer appears in the panel. When launching a sound application sound starts off real loud for a second and then changes to much quieter. I have had this laptop since Hardy with never any sound issues. I do not know if it is the kernel upgrade or the accompanying backports modules. Could be neither for all I know and it just started around that time and is a coincidence. Here is what was installed:

    Booted into my previous kernel 2.6.31-17 and everything works great. But of course i dont want to be stuck at 2.6.31-17 forever....

    It seems from your log that you're using my pulseaudio equalizer script, and that may be the cause of your problem...

    I recommend that you upgrade to the latest version of the script and then use the "reset to defaults" option from the Advanced menu of the interface.

    Thank you for the reply. The kernel quickly went to 2.6.31-19, did not stay at .18 very long. Things improved after updating the kernel to .19. However I appreciate the heads up on the Pulse Audio EQ script. I really enjoy the functionality it provides.
