    Enabling AHCI

I just built my first computer, and it has a SATA hot-swap dock that I'd like to take advantage of. The manual for my case says that I need to enable AHCI in BIOS in order to be able to dock and remove a SATA HDD without shutting the power off.
    1) Do I need to do anything as far as installing drivers is concerned in order for AHCI to work with Ubuntu?
    2) Has anyone used a SATA hot-swap dock successfully with Ubuntu?

Just try it and see what happens, if it doesnt work, then revert the bios back to its original state.

    Re: Enabling AHCI

I know I should have tried that to begin with. I'm still pretty new at messing around in BIOS, so I get nervous changing anything. But it worked. Ubuntu seems to boot a little quicker now, too. I'll have to wait until I can buy another SATA HDD to see if it recognizes it automatically when I dock it.
