I recently bought a new laptop and immediately wiped out Windows and installed Ubuntu Koala 64 bit version. I've noticed on the most recent list of updates that Update manager is recommending, under a category labelled 'Backports', that I update a bunch of apparently KDE-related packages, though I use Gnome.

The packages are:
kde-icons-oxygen
kdebase-runtime
kdebase-runtime-bin-kde4
kdebase-runtime-data
kdebase-runtime-data-common
kdelibs-bin
kdelibs5
kdelibs5-data
khelpcenter4
libplasma3
What's with this? Am I using KDE and don't even know it (this seems unlikely)? Are these actually not KDE-specific, despite the naming? If these should not be inthe update list, how are they getting there? And how do I get rid of them? I don't see anything in my repositories list that might be requesting them.

Thanks,

HB
