    Installing latex-suite for vim

I bought a netbook for university related stuff. Ubuntu is working fine, but I can't get latex-suite to work with this machine.

I got it to work once where I saw all the latex related items in the menu, but I can't remeber how. This (Link) is what I found and tried but when I open a .tex file with gvim it won't show the tex-menu items.

What is the easiest way to setup (g)vim for latex use?
I guess it's not that complicated, but I don't know how to get it right.

    A second question:
I edited /etc/vim/vimrc and gvimrc. Is it right, that new users use these as default until they create their own .vimrc/.gvimrc in their home directory?

PS: 'filetype plugin on' was missing in my vimrc. It's now working..
